DETAILS

A restaurant with a dessert menu that is equal in length to the dinner menu is bound to be a paradise for the sweet-tooth afflicted. Before skipping to the not-so-bitter end, though, enjoy a different sort of savory temptation at Philips European Restaurant, serving classic Continental fare such as scallops Provençale, veal Marsala and steak Diane. Assuming — hopefully — you have managed to stave off the hankering to eat dessert as your main course, after-dinner offerings include English trifle, crème brûlée, white chocolate carrot cake, biscotti and a variety of cheesecakes. But the stars of the dessert show may be the tortes, which run the gamut from Austrian chocolate or tiramisu to Viennese meringue or lemon mousse.

Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.

"It is no coincidence that the desserts are phenomenal. Virtually the only advertising the restaurant does is word of mouth."

— Michael Warren Thomas, City Newspaper
