DETAILS

From the restaurant's website:
"Founded in 1848 and operated as a family business since 1936, historic La Mallorquina is probably the oldest restaurant with nonstop operation on the same location in America. Featuring a traditional Puerto Rican cuisine menu, La Mallorquina still serves most of the items featured on the restaurant original list, created back in the late 1920's when the Rojo family acquired the business. Savory alternatives including shredded plantain fritters topped with garlic, breaded Spanish sausage, and Andalusian gazpacho (cold soup) are great starters."

Reservations suggested (no lunch reservations accepted). Serving lunch and dinner daily.

"A must for historically-minded food buffs, or food-minded history buffs, La Mallorquina is the grande dame of Old San Juan eateries: it’s been around for 150 years, quite a feat in the musical chairs of Fortaleza St and its surrounds."
