Open since 1982 in McLean, Va., Tachibana provides, quite simply, delectable sushi and other Japanese fare for the beyond-the-Beltway diner. The sushi is made from the finest, freshest fish and is beautifully cut and presented with care. Toro (the fatty cut of tuna) is a favorite, along with yellowtail, snapper and salmon. If you’re a roll person, get the spicy scallop roll or the old standbys such as tekka, kappa and California rolls. The sushi chefs’ skills tend to draw purists, rather than the sake bomb crowd. If you go often enough and sit at one of the two sushi bars, you’ll be steered toward goodies that aren’t on the menu. In addition to sushi, Tachibana serves a variety of reliably good rice, noodle and tempura dishes.
Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
"The casual, friendly atmosphere has become popular with the lunch crowd."
