What is the Hog Happenin’?
The Hog Happenin’ is a regional bike fest and Kansas City Barbeque
Society Sanctioned North Carolina State Championship Barbeque Cook-off
that brings motorcycle owners and Barbeque teams together in downtown
Lincolnton. This is a unique event that draws visitors from across the
Charlotte Region and the Southeast. While there are many hog events
throughout North Carolina, Lincolnton was the first to combine the
animal with the mechanical. The 2001 event was the winner of the North
Carolina Department of Commerce’s award for Best Downtown Special Event
in North Carolina.
Who organizes the Hog Happenin’?
The
City of Lincolnton and the Downtown Development Association of
Lincolnton are the primary organizers with volunteer support from
members of Christian Motorcycle Association, the Lincolnton/Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, the American Legion Riders and the Lincoln County Cruisers Motorcycle Riding Club
When is the Hog Happenin’ Held?
The
Hog Happenin’ is scheduled for Friday June 5th From 6pm to 10pm and
Saturday, June 6th from 10am to 6pm. The event kicks-off Friday night
with live bands on the Main Stage, Piglets playpen and swap-meet. The
cook-off will start Friday night with judging on Saturday. The Poker
Run & WALK, Bike Show, Bike Games and swap meet will be on
Saturday.
What does it cost to attend the Hog Happenin’?
The Hog Happenin’ is free and open to the public.
There is a required entry fee to participate in the bike show ($10)
Poker Run ($15) Professional Barbeque Cook-off ($200) Tailgate
Challenge--Amateur Barbeque Cook-off ($25) Swap Meet ($25).
How is the event publicized?
The event is promoted by television, radio, magazine and newspaper
media. In addition, email, web page, newsletters, bag stuffers,
posters and t-shirts are utilized. On site booth space is provided to
sponsors as well as their name and logo on an event sponsorship banner.
What is the expected attendance?
Based on last year’s event and surveys of similar events, Lincolnton
expects to draw between 5,000 to 7,500 people to the Hog Happenin’
