The fundraiser benefits Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Center (Easter Seals' pediatric outpatient rehabilitation center) and regularly attracts about 800 partygoers to what spokeswoman Phyllis Santos called "an evolving event."
"We used to call this the Lilly Pad and hold it in August, but we found it was easier to attract celebrities by rescheduling it for Derby time," Santos said.
Dress for the event is "smart casual," meaning guests can leave the formal wear in the closet until the weekend. "We found people liked the practicality of this event, that they didn't have to get dressed up and that it was a tasting format; there's no sit-down meal."
Santos said about three dozen restaurants, caterers and beverage providers will supply the food and drink for the evening. Like any Derby event, bourbon will be featured prominently with many of the commonwealth's best-known distilleries represented.
There will also be a silent auction and live music by Panorama. The tasting runs from 6 to 9 p.m. with dancing and music ending at 10.
Tickets are $65, and reserved tables for 10 are $750. For more details or tickets, call 584-9781.
