Tickets are now on sale for the National Cherry Festival’s ‘Foodie’
Favorites - it’s popular Cherries Grand Buffet culinary event and
Cherries D’Vine – a melding of grilled Cherry Cuisine and Regional
Cherries Grand Buffet will showcase recipes prepared by the
culinary and catering professionals at Grand Traverse Pie Company,
you’ll find cherries tucked into luncheon favorites like wraps, soups,
and salads – not to mention cherry delectable desserts! Festival-goers
will enjoy a 30 minute Musical Stage Show produced by the Old Town
Playhouse Performers. And what better place to celebrate this newly
remodeled event than the recently refurbished City Opera House in
downtown Traverse City.
The Grand Buffet will offer three
luncheon seatings on Friday, July 10. The first seating will get
underway at 11:00 a.m., while the second seating is slated for 1:00
p.m. and final seating at 3:00 p.m.
Cherries Grand Buffet is a favorite, with a menu filled with
locally-inspired dishes like Cherry Filled Wraps, Cherry Chicken
Croissants, Stacked Cherry Infused Deli Sandwiches, Cole Slaw tossed
with Grand Traverse Pie’s own Cherry Vinaigrette, and a savory Cherry
Potato Salad – it’s sure to be a sold out event once again. Served up
buffet style, the cherry inspired menu will also feature sweet treats
including famous Grand Traverse Pie Company’s Cherry Pie.
entertainers for the Cherry Grand Buffet are from a troupe of
performers who annually do a show as part of the Old Town Playhouse
Gala to be held at the City Opera House in June.
The mission of Old Town Playhouse is to be a volunteer-based
organization that promotes quality community theatre experiences by
providing educational opportunities and entertainment in the theatrical
The ‘All You Can Eat’ Cherries Grand Buffet is $25. Admission
into the Buffet is limited to 200 festival-goers at all three seatings:
11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3 p.m.
The fourth annual Cherries D’Vine epicurean event is a culinary
showcase featuring regional fruits – the cherry and the grape. A
melding of local agriculture, the BBQ Edition event is slated for
Sunday, July 6 and will get underway at 12 noon – just in time for
viewing the Festival Airshow over West Grand Traverse Bay. Cherry BBQ
creations from starters and entrees, to cherry blended desserts will be
paired with award winning wines from both the Leelanau and Old Mission
Cherries D’Vine, sponsored by Morgan Stanley, Traverse –
Northern Michigan’s Magazine, 9 and 10 News, and The Breeze will
benefit the student scholarship fund earmarked for Northwestern
Michigan College’s Great Lakes Culinary Institute.
Back by popular demand, the BBQ Edition will feature grilled
fare to include Cherry Pulled Pork, Michigan Cherry Salmon, Cherry BBQ
Smoked Chicken, and House-made Cherry Bratwurst served with cherry
mustard and cherry kraut. The cherry fare (from starters to desserts)
will each be paired with complimenting wines, a variety of whites and

Potato salads, and a garden salad drizzled with cherry vinaigrette.

Shortcake-Drop Biscuit served with freshly whipped cream. There’s
freshly squeezed cherry lemonade, not to mention more than 30 locally

are priced at $15 per person. Additional tasting tickets may be
