Cherries Grand Buffet will showcase recipes prepared by the culinary and catering professionals at Grand Traverse Pie Company, you’ll find cherries tucked into luncheon favorites like wraps, soups, and salads – not to mention cherry delectable desserts! Festival-goers will enjoy a 30 minute Musical Stage Show produced by the Old Town Playhouse Performers. And what better place to celebrate this newly remodeled event than the recently refurbished City Opera House in downtown Traverse City.
The Grand Buffet will offer three luncheon seatings on Friday, July 10. The first seating will get underway at 11:00 a.m., while the second seating is slated for 1:00 p.m. and final seating at 3:00 p.m.
Cherries Grand Buffet is a favorite, with a menu filled with locally-inspired dishes like Cherry Filled Wraps, Cherry Chicken Croissants, Stacked Cherry Infused Deli Sandwiches, Cole Slaw tossed with Grand Traverse Pie’s own Cherry Vinaigrette, and a savory Cherry Potato Salad – it’s sure to be a sold out event once again. Served up buffet style, the cherry inspired menu will also feature sweet treats including famous Grand Traverse Pie Company’s Cherry Pie.
The entertainers for the Cherry Grand Buffet are from a troupe of performers who annually do a show as part of the Old Town Playhouse Gala to be held at the City Opera House in June.
The mission of Old Town Playhouse is to be a volunteer-based organization that promotes quality community theatre experiences by providing educational opportunities and entertainment in the theatrical arts.
The ‘All You Can Eat’ Cherries Grand Buffet is $25. Admission into the Buffet is limited to 200 festival-goers at all three seatings: 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3 p.m.
The fourth annual Cherries D’Vine epicurean event is a culinary showcase featuring regional fruits – the cherry and the grape. A melding of local agriculture, the BBQ Edition event is slated for Sunday, July 6 and will get underway at 12 noon – just in time for viewing the Festival Airshow over West Grand Traverse Bay. Cherry BBQ creations from starters and entrees, to cherry blended desserts will be paired with award winning wines from both the Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas.
Cherries D’Vine, sponsored by Morgan Stanley, Traverse – Northern Michigan’s Magazine, 9 and 10 News, and The Breeze will benefit the student scholarship fund earmarked for Northwestern Michigan College’s Great Lakes Culinary Institute.
Back by popular demand, the BBQ Edition will feature grilled fare to include Cherry Pulled Pork, Michigan Cherry Salmon, Cherry BBQ Smoked Chicken, and House-made Cherry Bratwurst served with cherry mustard and cherry kraut. The cherry fare (from starters to desserts) will each be paired with complimenting wines, a variety of whites and reds.
Complimenting the BBQ fare, epicurean enthusiasts will find a ‘Sides and Salad Bar’ filled with Cherry Corn Salad, Cherry Pasta and Potato salads, and a garden salad drizzled with cherry vinaigrette. Decadent desserts including Cherry Ganache Brownies, Cherry Shortcake-Drop Biscuit served with freshly whipped cream. There’s freshly squeezed cherry lemonade, not to mention more than 30 locally produced wines. Local vintners will be on hand with award winning wines from Chardonnays, to Pinot Noirs and Pinot Grigios, to Rieslings and Merlots.
