Urban Eats, Seattle, May 2009

The dining promotion New Urban Eats—in which Seattle area restaurants offer three courses for $30—is back, this time as Urban Eats. The original idea was to highlight only new restaurants, but with the current state of the economy, we're guessing some of the city's more established eateries wanted in on that promotion.

There are 48 participating restaurants this year, the most ever. They've also changed the game a little bit by bending the three-for-$30 rules. For example, the Parlor's first course offers a choice of beer, wine, or a martini in lieu of an appetizer, and for dessert diners will receive a ticket to the comedy show or one hour of pool. The Garage is doing something similar, offering two hours of bowling or pool instead of dessert; and Al Boccalino will be throwing in a cup of espresso at no additional charge.

Urban Eats runs Sun.-Thurs., May 3-31 (excluding Mother's Day).
