Some 40 restaurants, bars and retail shops ˜ located north and south of Eastern Parkway on Bardstown Road, plus a stretch of Baxter Avenue - will open their doors for the sixth annual Bardstown Bound festival May 22. Beginning at 5 p.m., food and drink purveyors will offer "bubbly hour" specials, live entertainment and samples to crowds walking the two-mile stretch.
Those looking for quicker passage can catch a free trolley ride.
George Timmering, owner of Bearno's Pizza (1318 Bardstown Road), called the event one of his favorites and said live bands will play in the restaurant's sidewalk garden that night.
"The great thing about Bardstown Road," Timmering said, "is you can park at any point, start walking up and down the street, and find so many choices for things to do in any direction."
Other food and drink stops along the way include Asiatique, Avalon, Bristol Bar & Grille, Boombozz Pizza & Tap House, Caspian Grill, CoCo's Chocolate Cafe, Flanagan's Ale House, Jarfi's Bistro, Le Gallo Rosso, Mark's Feed Store, NV Tavern, O'Shea's Irish Pub, Pita Delights, Qdoba and Quill's Coffee. Bluegrass Brewing Co., a key sponsor of the event, will offer beer specials at several stops.
