Share Our Strength®’s Taste of the Nation® Houston

Houston’s hottest chefs, restaurants, and mixologists will gather for Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation®, the city’s premier culinary benefit. Taste of the Nation Houston will raise critical funds needed to support Share Our Strength’s® efforts to end childhood hunger in Houston and across the nation.  This year’s event will be held on May 2 at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa from 5pm to 8pm.

More than 50 of the city’s finest chefs and restaurants will participate in the gastronomic event. Along with Chef Jeff Everts of Olivette at the Houstonian, participating restaurants will include Mark’s American Cuisine, Ouisie’s Table, Reef, and The Capital Grille. Guests will enjoy the city’s finest foods paired with wines provided by Brown-Forman, as well as offerings from Fresh Brew Coffee and Stella Artois.

In addition to fabulous food and drinks, the event will feature a unique Wine Toss game sponsored by Kroger Food Stores, a Silent auction of extraordinary items including sports memorabilia, restaurant packages, first class tickets from Continental Airlines, and live entertainment by The Static Band.

This year’s event also offers something special for VIPs, including exclusive food & beverage offerings and Celebrity Chef meet-and-greets. The VIP Room is sponsored by Gainer, Donnelly & Desroches. All VIP guests will receive a gift bag to take away from the event.

Local area charities that will benefit from this year’s event include The Houston Food Bank & Kid’s Meals Houston. Since 1988, Taste of the Nation has raised more than $73 million across the nation.

With nearly 17 million children facing hunger in America (that’s almost one in four), and the highest number of food-insecure households in Texas alone at 16.4 percent, Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation is more vital than ever. The event raises funds to end childhood hunger in America by ensuring that at-risk children and their families have reliable access to enough nutritious food to thrive. Funds raised through Taste of the Nation events support No Kid Hungry™, Share Our Strength’s campaign to end childhood hunger in America.
