Each
spring, Vidalia anticipates the harvest of Georgia’s Official State
Vegetable, the internationally known, Vidalia Sweet Onion. Since 1978,
we have celebrated this special occasion with an array of fun-filled
events.
The festival in 2010 will mark our 33rd
year! The festival lasts an entire weekend and normally kicks off with
the opening ceremonies on Thursday night, featuring a themed children’s
parade and several special performances.
On
Saturday and Sunday enjoy the arts and crafts festival or attend the
air show, for a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of the U.S. Navy Flight
Demonstration Blue Angels or the Canadian Snowbirds Demonstration Team!
Don’t forget to catch the Vidalia Sweet Onion cook-off and our Georgia
folk-life play, “Tales from the Altamaha”.
You
and your family are invited to share in the natural beauty and color of
spring in Vidalia during the annual Vidalia Onion Festival.
