Thursday April 15, 2010
Each spring, Vidalia anticipates the harvest of Georgia’s Official State Vegetable, the internationally known, Vidalia Sweet Onion. Since 1978, we have celebrated this special occasion with an array of fun-filled events.
The festival in 2010 will mark our 33rd year! The festival lasts an entire weekend and normally kicks off with the opening ceremonies on Thursday night, featuring a themed children’s parade and several special performances.
On Saturday and Sunday enjoy the arts and crafts festival or attend the air show, for a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Blue Angels or the Canadian Snowbirds Demonstration Team! Don’t forget to catch the Vidalia Sweet Onion cook-off and our Georgia folk-life play, “Tales from the Altamaha”.
You and your family are invited to share in the natural beauty and color of spring in Vidalia during the annual Vidalia Onion Festival.
