If you are
between 16-21 years old and an aspiring barbecue enthusiast, this event
is just for you. The Lake Placid, NY - I Love Barbecue Festival is
presenting the 2nd Annual Junior World Barbecue Championship, July
2-3rd, 2010. 16-21 year old barbecue competitors will vie for the title
of the Junior World Barbecue Champion and $1,000.00 in cash and prizes.
The second and third place teams, in this Kansas City Barbecue Society
sanctioned event, will come away with $500.00 in cash and prizes.
The I love
Barbecue Junior World Championship will consist of four categories:
pork ribs, chicken, steak and dessert. Each category purse is worth
$750 and will be divided among the top five finishers. The event, being
held on the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games Speed Skating Oval on
Main Street.
The I
love Barbecue Junior World Championship also presents a Youth Division.
If you are 12-15 years old and you would like to showcase your culinary

The mission
of the Junior World Barbecue Championship is to celebrate, teach,
promote and encourage our young generation of barbecue enthusiasts and
competitors, and to promote the American style of barbecue as a sport
and an art form. This is also a forum for today’s youth to showcase
their talents and passion for barbecue.

The Shipman
Youth Center is a not-for-profit community organization providing
support to children and youth ages 10-18. The center was inspired by
Thomas Shipman, a designated Lake Placid youth police officer who died
in 1995 and built with community donations of money, material and
labor. For the last 8 years SYC has provided services to hundreds of
children. Programs include homework time and assistance, community
services, recreational services, weekly family style dinners, dances,
and guest speakers. SYC provides a supervised safe and exciting
environment where local children can grow and develop as individuals.
