Taste of Lincoln Avenue, one of Chicago's largest and most popular
summer street fest, returns for its 28th year on Saturday and Sunday,
July 30-31. Highlights include more than 40 music acts on five stages, a
kids' carnival and plenty of food vendors.
In addition to a bevy of local/regional pop, rock and blues acts and
popular local cover bands, among the headliners on the music stages will
be Minnesota alt-rockers Soul Asylum, Chicago roots rockers The Freddy
Jones Band, soul/R&B legend Otis Clay, and acclaimed Australian
harmonica/didgeridoo whiz Harper.
Other Taste of Lincoln Avenue highlights include ...
- The ever-popular free kids' carnival from Noon-6:00 p.m. each day
on Altgeld between Lincoln and Halsted (entrance on Halsted) that
features stage entertainment, inflatables, a petting zoo and pony
rides.
- A wine garden at Lill Street and Lincoln.
Proceeds benefit the Wrightwood Neighbors Association which, in turn,
makes grants to charitable and educational organizations serving the
local community.
