If you’ve given up red meat but still have a craving for a juicy hamburger, you can now have the best of both worlds.
The Impossible Burger — also known as “the veggie burger that bleeds — is being served for the first time in Georgia at all Grindhouse Killer Burgers locations and at The Counter location in Roswell.
The plant-based vegan patty — made of water, plant proteins, coconut oil and heme, a natural molecule that gives burgers their distinctive taste and is also found in plants — is designed to look and taste like a traditional red meat burger. California-based Impossible Foods has gotten more than $250 million in financial backing from Bill Gates, venture fund Temasek and several other businesses.
Grindhouse — which served the burger on its vegan bun — did a soft roll out of the patty at its Decatur location and sold out within days prompting owner Alex Brounstein to add it to the menu at other Grindhouse locations (except for Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport spots). Grindhouse will also continue to offer its veggie burger, made from beans and quinoa.
Rosie de Queljoe, a representative for Impossible Foods, said the burger will be available in other Georgia locations soon.
